July has been mostly hot and dry, with a few good downpours. Perfect growing weather.
Our tomato plants are looking better than ever this year, thanks to help from dedicated pruners whom you’ll recognize by their green fingers.
Harvested our first 40 pounds of green beans for the Mustard Seed and supplied the Emergency Youth Shelter with 3 days of Ceasar salad made with our perfect Romaine lettuce. Thanks to those who planted the Romaine just the right distance apart and faithfully weeded.
Saturday lunch get togethers have showcased made-on-the-spot salads as well as bean, spaghetti squash and horseradish dishes, all from our own harvest.
August will be busy, busy, as we keep up with harvesting for donation and weeding, and learn how to manage the anticipated jungle of tomatoes in the hoop house.
